Australia and New Zealand
Australia. When you hear the name alone your mind automatically envisages images of vast landscapes of deep red earth, undulating green vistas and sapphire blue seas, all set against an endless sky. I don’t think that you could get further away from home in the United Kingdom so it’s easy to understand its magnetism. If you choose to travel to the ends of the Earth you will not be disappointed with what you discover. Australia’s modern cities are slick, sophisticated and cosmopolitan, packed with fashionable shops and some of the world’s most up and coming restaurant scenes. Then there’s the magnificent coastline: a rocky range of outcrops, bluffs and beaches, culminating in the east with the magnificent Great Barrier Reef. And not forgetting the interior, of course – where else is more stereotypically Australian than the hulking, ochre mass of Uluru?
In New Zealand – Middle Earth at end of the world – you’ll encounter a population unencumbered by the trappings of western lifestyle, happy to embrace the great outdoors and all its glacier-capped, pasture- swathed, lake-dappled glory. There’s a good reason this small, unassuming duo of islands is known as the adventure capital of the world – you can throw yourself off, in and down practically anything.
This corner of the planet is also home to one of Earth’s most beautiful nirvanas – the islands of the South Pacific. The Cook Islands, Fiji and Tahiti are the stuff of office-workers’ daydreams. Powdery soft beaches, wave-lapped shores and diving that beggar’s belief. Here you can wallow in lagoons resembling an artist’s palette of blues and greens, before gorging on the freshest produces from the seas. It’s well worth the long flight.
Why not marry up a tailor-made holiday with one or more of the amazing stop over destinations on route. Such as Dubai, Hong Kong, Los Angeles or Singapore to name but a few.
